I recently became aware of using the encaustic process with photography and decided I wanted to try it with my photographs. Encaustic medium combines beeswax with damar resin which is kept in a molten state and applied to the photograph either by pouring or painting on with a brush. A heat gun is used to fuse the wax and then more layers can be added. Texture can be created with a brush or a scribing tool and whatever your imagination can come up with. So far, I'm having fun with it and I've been happy with the results.

All the technique in the world doesn’t compensate for the inability to notice.
